Austin joined the U.S. Navy in July of 2001 and became an Explosive Ordnance Technician graduating in December of 2003. He completed 3 deployments to Iraq and then became an instructor focusing on Military free fall operations. He was injured during a training jump and entered an inpatient rehab program at the Richmond VA Veterans Affairs hospital where he was introduced to the Ekso™.
Austin says that the challenging himself with the strength that he has in his lower body is what he loves most about working with the Ekso. For him, “being able to stand and have a conversation and look someone in the eye is a feeling that cannot be described”
