Janie Kryski

Twenty years ago, Janie was having the time of her life while skiing in Mont Blanc, France. However, this was not meant to last for long. At 4 in the morning, Janie was sidelined by a massive arterial venous malformation that manifested itself in the form of a debilitating stroke. She was in a coma and after 4 weeks was flown home. She emerged from her coma after 6 weeks, was able to move one eye after 3 months, and got her voice back after 5 months.

“It was an absolutely horrifying experience” said Janie. It may have been horrifying, but this did not hinder her ambition. She went on to receive her BA from University of California at Davis and her MS from California State University, Sacramento. She now works as a Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the Blind and Visually Impaired for the State of California.

She wrote a book about the experience, called Malchance: From Walking to a Wheelchair.

Being in the Ekso allows Janie to get out of her wheelchair and on her own two feet. Janie has had the privilege of being in Ekso’s promotional materials. “Ekso is absolutely revolutionary and I expect HUGE things from it”, Janie says.
