Wrapping robotic bionics around humans since 2005

From our first-generation product’s like EksoVest and EksoGT, to pieces of technology custom-developed for partnerships, Ekso has been at the forefront of blending human ability with robotic capabilities.

Easing the
burden: HULC

HULC, or Human Universal Load Carrier, was a hydraulic exoskeleton designed to help soldiers in combat carry a load of up to 200 pounds at a top speed of 10 miles per hour for extended periods of time. Exclusively licensed with Lockheed Martin, this battery-powered device bore the weight of loads, dramatically diminishing the risk of musculoskeletal injuries.

Stepping into
rehabilitation: eLegs

eLEGS, or Exoskeleton Lower Extremity Gait System, was an electromechanical exoskeleton designed for rehabilitation, allowing paraplegics to stand and walk in a straight line. eLEGS was our first venture into rehabilitation.

Walking as one: EksoGT

In 2013, EksoGT was released with software that adopted to patient recovery: VariableAssist. EksoGT was the only exoskeleton available for rehabilitation that could provide adaptive amounts of power to either side of the patient’s body, challenging the patient as they progress through their continuum of care, and was the first exoskeleton FDA-cleared to be used with patients of stroke and spinal cord injuries. Upgraded software, SmartAssist, was later released with the EksoPulse platform, which is a way to track a patient’s progression over the course of their rehab treatment via an online portal.

Power without pain: EksoVest

In 2018, we unveiled EksoVest, an industrial upper-body exoskeleton developed to support a worker’s arms and shoulders. EksoVest provided more support for tasks at check height or overhead and was spring-powered, without the need for batteries or charging. Using EksoVest allowed industrial leaders like Ford and Boeing to reduce workplace injuries and bolster productivity. Field user feedback from EksoVest led to the development of our latest generation of our industrial exoskeleton vest, EVO.
