EKSONR
What is EksoNR and who is it for?
EksoNR is a wearable robotic suit, or exoskeleton, that wraps around your body to provide support and assistance while you rehab from a neurological injury including a stroke, brain injury, and spinal cord injury. EksoNR uses sensors, motors, and smart software to help your PT facilitate your rehab and help you to do more during a therapy session. EksoNR is designed to automatically reduce power when you can do more on your own – with the end goal of you walking independently outside of the robot, if possible!
EksoNR is cleared by the FDA to be used after a stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, or after an MS diagnosis. To see EksoNR’s full indications for use, please visit this page. Even if you have one of these diagnoses, you must be evaluated by a trained PT to ensure your body will fit in the exoskeleton and that your function is appropriate for using EksoNR during rehab. Some requirements for using Ekso include:
- Being between approximately 5ft and 6ft 4 tall and weighing under 220lbs
- Having near normal range of motion in ankles, knees, and hips
- Having two limbs (either both arms or one arm and one leg) with near normal strength
- Having physician approval
